📖 Luke 6
Luke 6 opens with these words: “Now on the second Sabbath after the first, he was going through the grain fields. His disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate,…” The line to keep is Luke 6:9: “Then Jesus said to them, “I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?”” Carry the word “jesus” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Luke 6 is a real chapter from the New Testament. It starts, “Now on the second Sabbath after the first, he was going through the grain fields. His disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate, rubbing them in their hands.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Woe to you, you who are full now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.” Luke 6 opens with these words: “Now on the second Sabbath after the first, he was going through the grain fields.
The line worth learning out loud is Luke 6:9: “Then Jesus said to them, “I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Luke 6? Then try this: Read “Then Jesus said to them, “I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good, or to do harm?…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“Then Jesus said to them, “I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?””
