🌿 Lent · Lent week 2
🪨 Bread Is Not Enough
Jesus is hungry in the wilderness and still trusts his Father’s word.
Matthew 4:4 · Matthew 4
“But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’””
Say it
Practice Matthew 4:4
Tap the words in order. The blanks follow the verse from left to right.
Butheanswered,“Itis‘Mannotlivebybreadalone,butbyeverywordthatoutofthemouthofGod.’”
Jesus went into a lonely place and was tempted to grab food, fame, and shortcuts. He answered with Scripture, not with panic. He was really hungry. He still chose trust.
When we want something right now, we can borrow Jesus’ sentence. Bread matters. God’s word matters more. Read the verse twice. Eat a snack after if anyone needs one. Hunger is honest. So is trust.
Prayer
Father, when we want a shortcut, feed us with your word the way you fed Jesus. Amen.
Challenge
Say Matthew 4:4 before a meal this week.
For the adult
Do not shame hunger or wants. Point them to the verse.
