Sadness
Sadness is part of a real life. The Bible has whole songs for sad days, and Jesus is close to the brokenhearted.
1. Nehemiah 2:2
“The king said to me, “Why is your face sad, since you are not sick? This is nothing else but sorrow of heart.” Then I was very much afraid.”
2. Acts 20:38
“sorrowing most of all because of the word which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.”
3. Hosea 13:13
“The sorrows of a travailing woman will come on him. He is an unwise son; for when it is time, he doesn’t come to the opening of the womb.”
4. Philippians 2:27
“For indeed he was sick, nearly to death, but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow.”
5. Job 21:17
““How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out, that their calamity comes on them, that God distributes sorrows in his anger?”
6. Psalms 16:4
“Their sorrows shall be multiplied who give gifts to another god. Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take their names on my lips.”
7. Jeremiah 49:23
“Of Damascus: “Hamath is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard evil news. They have melted away. There is sorrow on the sea. It can’t be quiet.”
8. John 16:20
“Most certainly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.”
