Bragging
Bragging makes a friend feel small. The Bible points us to boast in the Lord instead of in ourselves.
1. Psalms 86:14
“God, the proud have risen up against me. A company of violent men have sought after my soul, and they don’t hold regard for you before them.”
2. 2 Corinthians 9:3
“But I have sent the brothers that our boasting on your behalf may not be in vain in this respect, that, just as I said, you may be prepared,”
3. 1 Corinthians 9:16
“For if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about; for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me, if I don’t preach the Good News.”
4. Isaiah 2:12
“For there will be a day of Yahweh of Armies for all that is proud and haughty, and for all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low:”
5. Hosea 5:5
“The pride of Israel testifies to his face. Therefore Israel and Ephraim will stumble in their iniquity. Judah also will stumble with them.”
6. 1 John 2:16
“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s.”
7. Jeremiah 49:4
“Why do you boast in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? You trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come to me?’”
8. Galatians 6:13
“For even they who receive circumcision don’t keep the law themselves, but they desire to have you circumcised, that they may boast in your flesh.”
