⭐ Ruth 4
Ruth 4 opens with these words: “Now Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there. Behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by. He said to him, “Come over here,…” The line to keep is Ruth 4:15: “He shall be to you a restorer of life, and sustain you in your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has…” Carry the word “restorer” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Ruth 4 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “Now Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there. Behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by. He said to him, “Come over here, friend, and sit down!” He came over, and sat down.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Let your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the offspring which Yahweh will give you by this young woman.”” Ruth 4 opens with these words: “Now Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there.
The line worth learning out loud is Ruth 4:15: “He shall be to you a restorer of life, and sustain you in your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Ruth 4? Then try this: Read “He shall be to you a restorer of life, and sustain you in your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“He shall be to you a restorer of life, and sustain you in your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.””
