🌿 Judges 4
Judges 4 opens with these words: “The children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, when Ehud was dead.” The line to keep is Judges 4:23: “So God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel on that day.” Carry the word “subdued” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Judges 4 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “The children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, when Ehud was dead.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people who were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles, to the river Kishon.” Judges 4 opens with these words: “The children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, when Ehud was dead.” The line to keep is Judges 4:23: “So God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel on that day.” Carry the word “subdued” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Judges 4:23: “So God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel on that day.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Judges 4? Then try this: Read “So God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel on that day.” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“So God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel on that day.”
