💧 Jeremiah 34
Jeremiah 34 opens with these words: “The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that…” The line to keep is Jeremiah 34:13: ““Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage,…” Carry the word “israel” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Jeremiah 34 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Therefore Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,” Jeremiah 34 opens with these words: “The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that…” The line to keep is Jeremiah 34:13: ““Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage,…” Carry the word “israel” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Jeremiah 34:13: ““Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying,” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
