☀️ Isaiah 50
Isaiah 50 opens with these words: “Yahweh says, “Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, with which I have put her away? or to which of my creditors have I sold you?…” The line to keep is Isaiah 50:10: “Who among you fears Yahweh, and obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in Yahweh’s name, and rely on his God.” Carry the word “fears” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Isaiah 50 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “Yahweh says, “Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, with which I have put her away? or to which of my creditors have I sold you? Behold, you were sold for your iniquities, and your mother was put away for your transgressions.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair. I didn’t hide my face from shame and spitting.” Isaiah 50 opens with these words: “Yahweh says, “Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, with which I have put her away? or to which of my creditors have I sold you?…” The line to keep is Isaiah 50:10: “Who among you fears Yahweh, and obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in Yahweh’s name, and rely on his God.” Carry the word “fears” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Isaiah 50:10: “Who among you fears Yahweh, and obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in Yahweh’s name, and rely on his God.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Isaiah 50? Then try this: Read “Who among you fears Yahweh, and obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light,…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“Who among you fears Yahweh, and obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in Yahweh’s name, and rely on his God.”
