🌿 Isaiah 37
Isaiah 37 opens with these words: “When king Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house.” The line to keep is Isaiah 37:10: ““Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem won’t be given into the hand of…” Carry the word “thus” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Isaiah 37 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “When king Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Now therefore, Yahweh our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are Yahweh, even you only.”” Isaiah 37 opens with these words: “When king Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house.” The line to keep is Isaiah 37:10: ““Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem won’t be given into the hand of…” Carry the word “thus” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Isaiah 37:10: ““Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Isaiah 37? Then try this: Read ““Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you,…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
““Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.””
