🌊 Isaiah 11
Isaiah 11 opens with these words: “A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.” The line to keep is Isaiah 11:3: “His delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears;” Carry the word “delight” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Isaiah 11 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea.” Isaiah 11 opens with these words: “A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.” The line to keep is Isaiah 11:3: “His delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears;” Carry the word “delight” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Isaiah 11:3: “His delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears;” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Isaiah 11? Then try this: Read “His delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
