🌾 Genesis 7

Genesis 7 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “Yahweh said to Noah, “Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.

Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth—the sons of Noah—and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ship—” Genesis 7 opens with these words: “Yahweh said to Noah, “Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.” The line to keep is Genesis 7:9: “went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.” Carry the word “pairs” from that verse into the rest of the day.

The line worth learning out loud is Genesis 7:9: “went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.

What happens first in Genesis 7? Then try this: Read “went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
