🪔 Genesis 4
Genesis 4 opens with these words: “The man knew Eve his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man with Yahweh’s help.”” The line to keep is Genesis 4:25: “Adam knew his wife again. She gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, saying, “for God has given me another child instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.”” Carry the word “adam” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Genesis 4 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “The man knew Eve his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man with Yahweh’s help.”” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Behold, you have driven me out today from the surface of the ground. I will be hidden from your face, and I will be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth. Whoever finds me will kill me.”” Genesis 4 opens with these words: “The man knew Eve his wife.
The line worth learning out loud is Genesis 4:25: “Adam knew his wife again. She gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, saying, “for God has given me another child instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Genesis 4? Then try this: Read “Adam knew his wife again. She gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, saying, “for God has given me another…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
