💧 Genesis 31
Genesis 31 opens with these words: “He heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that…” The line to keep is Genesis 31:16: “For all the riches which God has taken away from our father, that is ours and our children’s. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do.”” Carry the word “riches” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Genesis 31 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “He heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that which was our father’s.”” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “and didn’t allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters? Now have you done foolishly.” Genesis 31 opens with these words: “He heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that…” The line to keep is Genesis 31:16: “For all the riches which God has taken away from our father, that is ours and our children’s. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do.”” Carry the word “riches” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Genesis 31:16: “For all the riches which God has taken away from our father, that is ours and our children’s. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do.”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Genesis 31? Then try this: Read “For all the riches which God has taken away from our father, that is ours and our children’s. Now then,…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“For all the riches which God has taken away from our father, that is ours and our children’s. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do.””
