🌊 Genesis 2
Genesis 2 opens with these words: “The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.” The line to keep is Genesis 2:2: “On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.” Carry the word “seventh” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Genesis 2 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “The name of the second river is Gihon. It is the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.” Genesis 2 opens with these words: “The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.” The line to keep is Genesis 2:2: “On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.” Carry the word “seventh” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Genesis 2:2: “On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Genesis 2? Then try this: Read “On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.”
