📖 Ezekiel 40
Ezekiel 40 opens with these words: “In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that…” The line to keep is Ezekiel 40:2: “In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me down on a very high mountain, whereon was as it were the frame of a city on the south.” Carry the word “visions” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Ezekiel 40 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was struck, in the same day, Yahweh’s hand was on me, and he brought me there.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “There were windows in it and in its arches all around, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the width twenty-five cubits.” Ezekiel 40 opens with these words: “In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that…” The line to keep is Ezekiel 40:2: “In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me down on a very high mountain, whereon was as it were the frame of a city on the south.” Carry the word “visions” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Ezekiel 40:2: “In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me down on a very high mountain, whereon was as it were the frame of a city on the south.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Ezekiel 40? Then try this: Read “In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me down on a very high mountain,…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
