🎺 Exodus 9
Exodus 9 opens with these words: “Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that…” The line to keep is Exodus 9:30: “But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.”” Carry the word “servants” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Exodus 9 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now.” Exodus 9 opens with these words: “Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that…” The line to keep is Exodus 9:30: “But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.”” Carry the word “servants” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Exodus 9:30: “But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Exodus 9? Then try this: Read “But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.”” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.””
