🕊️ Exodus 4
Exodus 4 opens with these words: “Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘Yahweh has not appeared to you.’”” The line to keep is Exodus 4:5: ““That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”” Carry the word “believe” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Exodus 4 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘Yahweh has not appeared to you.’”” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “He will be your spokesman to the people; and it will happen, that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as God.” Exodus 4 opens with these words: “Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘Yahweh has not appeared to you.’”” The line to keep is Exodus 4:5: ““That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”” Carry the word “believe” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Exodus 4:5: ““That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Exodus 4? Then try this: Read ““That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
““That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.””
