🌙 Exodus 32
Exodus 32 opens with these words: “When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him,…” The line to keep is Exodus 32:6: “They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.” Carry the word “rose” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Exodus 32 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.”” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “He said, “It isn’t the voice of those who shout for victory. It is not the voice of those who cry for being overcome; but the noise of those who sing that I hear.”” Exodus 32 opens with these words: “When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him,…” The line to keep is Exodus 32:6: “They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.” Carry the word “rose” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Exodus 32:6: “They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Exodus 32? Then try this: Read “They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“They rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.”
