🌿 Exodus 19
Exodus 19 opens with these words: “In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.” The line to keep is Exodus 19:3: “Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:” Carry the word “moses” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Exodus 19 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”” Exodus 19 opens with these words: “In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.” The line to keep is Exodus 19:3: “Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:” Carry the word “moses” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Exodus 19:3: “Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Exodus 19? Then try this: Read “Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
