⭐ Esther 5
Esther 5 opens with these words: “Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal clothing, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, next to the king’s house. The…” The line to keep is Esther 5:9: “Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled…” Carry the word “haman” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Esther 5 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal clothing, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, next to the king’s house. The king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, next to the entrance of the house.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I will prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said.”” Esther 5 opens with these words: “Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal clothing, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, next to the king’s house. The…” The line to keep is Esther 5:9: “Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled…” Carry the word “haman” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Esther 5:9: “Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Esther 5? Then try this: Read “Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
“Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.”
