🪨 David and the Giant
A shepherd boy trusts God, faces Goliath with a sling, and learns the battle belongs to the Lord.
A giant soldier named Goliath shouted at God’s people every day. He was huge, and his challenge made brave men quiet. David was the youngest brother, the one who brought bread and cheese to the camp and then went back to the sheep. He heard the shouting and asked why nobody answered.
David told King Saul that God had helped him protect sheep from lions and bears. “The Lord who rescued me will rescue me from this Philistine.” Saul’s armor was too big. David took it off. He picked five smooth stones from a stream and walked out with his sling and God’s name.
Goliath laughed at him. David said he came in the name of the Lord. The stone flew true, and the giant fell. Then the people who had been frozen remembered how to move. David’s song that day was not “I am the strongest.” It was “The battle is the Lord’s.”
Your giant might be a worry, a bully’s voice, or a problem that shouts every day. You still need wisdom and help from adults. And you do not face it as if God were small. The battle belongs to him.
“and that all this assembly may know that Yahweh doesn’t save with sword and spear; for the battle is Yahweh’s, and he will give you into our hand.””
