🪔 Daniel 2
Daniel 2 opens with these words: “In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams; and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep went from him.” The line to keep is Daniel 2:47: “The king answered to Daniel, and said, “Of a truth your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you have been able to…” Carry the word “king” from that verse into the rest of the day.
Daniel 2 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams; and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep went from him.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said this to him: “I have found a man of the children of the captivity of Judah who will make known to the king the interpretation.”” Daniel 2 opens with these words: “In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams; and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep went from him.” The line to keep is Daniel 2:47: “The king answered to Daniel, and said, “Of a truth your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you have been able to…” Carry the word “king” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Daniel 2:47: “The king answered to Daniel, and said, “Of a truth your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you have been able to reveal this secret.”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Daniel 2? Then try this: Read “The king answered to Daniel, and said, “Of a truth your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a…” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
