📜 The Boy Who Loved His Father’s House
Twelve-year-old Jesus stays in the temple, listening and asking questions, then goes home and obeys.
Every year Jesus’ family went to Jerusalem for Passover. When he was twelve, they started home with the traveling crowd. After a day, Mary and Joseph realized Jesus was not with the relatives. Any parent would feel that drop in the stomach. They hurried back.
They found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening and asking questions. Everyone was amazed at his understanding. Mary said, “Son, why have you treated us like this? We have been anxiously searching.” Jesus answered, “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” They did not fully understand. He went back to Nazareth with them and was obedient.
Luke says Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and people. The Son of God had a real childhood: questions, a growing body, and a home where he obeyed.
You are allowed to love learning and to ask good questions. Growing wise is part of following Jesus. And obedience at home is not small. It is how even Jesus grew.
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”
