🧺 Baby Moses in the Basket
A brave mother, a watchful sister, and a princess help God hide baby Moses.
God’s people were living in Egypt, and a cruel order said baby boys were not safe. Moses’ mother loved her son. She hid him as long as she could. When she could not hide him at home anymore, she waterproofed a basket and laid him gently in the reeds along the Nile River.
His sister Miriam stood nearby and watched. A princess came down to bathe and heard a cry. She opened the basket and saw the baby. Miriam was brave enough to step forward. “Shall I go and get a woman to nurse him for you?” she asked. The woman she brought was the baby’s own mother.
The princess named him Moses, which sounds like “draw out,” because she drew him out of the water. God used a basket, a sister’s quick feet, and a kind decision to keep a baby who would one day lead God’s people.
God still uses ordinary brave people — parents, sisters, helpers — to protect children. You are not too small to be part of someone’s safety. And when you feel small yourself, God knows how to hide you in the right arms.
“You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.”
