📖 2 Chronicles 22

2 Chronicles 22 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “The inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his place, because the band of men who came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the oldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.

Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Now the destruction of Ahaziah was of God, in that he went to Joram; for when he had come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom Yahweh had anointed to cut off Ahab’s house.” 2 Chronicles 22 opens with these words: “The inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his place, because the band of men who came with the Arabians to the…” The line to keep is 2 Chronicles 22:12: “He was with them hidden in God’s house six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.” Carry the word “hidden” from that verse into the rest of the day.

The line worth learning out loud is 2 Chronicles 22:12: “He was with them hidden in God’s house six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.

What happens first in 2 Chronicles 22? Then try this: Read “He was with them hidden in God’s house six years while Athaliah reigned over the land.” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
