🌿 1 Kings 6
1 Kings 6 opens with these words: “In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s…” The line to keep is 1 Kings 6:13: “I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”” Carry the word “dwell” from that verse into the rest of the day.
1 Kings 6 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build Yahweh’s house.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “Within the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in its height; and he overlaid it with pure gold; and he covered the altar with cedar.” 1 Kings 6 opens with these words: “In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s…” The line to keep is 1 Kings 6:13: “I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”” Carry the word “dwell” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is 1 Kings 6:13: “I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in 1 Kings 6? Then try this: Read “I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
