Say it
Practice Luke 22:42
Tap the words in order. The blanks follow the verse from left to right.
saying,ifyouareremovethiscupfromme.Nevertheless,notmywill,butbedone.”
In the garden Jesus did not pretend he was fine. He asked if the cup could pass. Then he trusted his Father anyway. Honest prayer and brave trust can share a sentence.
Kids are allowed to tell God, this is hard. Jesus did. Stay with them in the quiet. You do not have to fix the whole story tonight. You only have to sit in the garden with him.
Prayer
Father, when we are afraid, hear us the way you heard Jesus, and hold us. Amen.
Challenge
Pray Luke 22:42 once with your eyes open, then once with them closed.
For the adult
If a child is anxious, emphasize that Jesus understands scared prayers.
