Places
Tarshish in Isaiah 60
TAR-shish
This place shows up in Isaiah 60:9: “Surely the islands will wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them,…” The Bible is not talking about a sticker. It is talking about a real place in a real place.
Isaiah 60:9
“Surely the islands will wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of Yahweh your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.”
What kids can learn
When you hear tarshish in Isaiah, remember the sentence around it. God put this place in the story on purpose.
