Places
Bethel in Joshua 8
BETH-ul
This place shows up in Joshua 8:9: “Joshua sent them out; and they went to set up the ambush, and stayed between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai; but Joshua stayed…” The Bible is not talking about a sticker. It is talking about a real place in a real place.
Joshua 8:9
“Joshua sent them out; and they went to set up the ambush, and stayed between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai; but Joshua stayed among the people that night.”
What kids can learn
When you hear bethel in Joshua, remember the sentence around it. God put this place in the story on purpose.
Read Joshua 8:9 again tomorrow and ask what the place is doing in the sentence, not only what it looks like.
