Places
Bethel in Joshua 7
BETH-ul
This place shows up in Joshua 7:2: “Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out…” The Bible is not talking about a sticker. It is talking about a real place in a real place.
Joshua 7:2
“Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the land.” The men went up and spied out Ai.”
What kids can learn
When you hear bethel in Joshua, remember the sentence around it. God put this place in the story on purpose.
Read Joshua 7:2 again tomorrow and ask what the place is doing in the sentence, not only what it looks like.
