This thing shows up in Genesis 1:2: “The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.” The Bible is not talking about a sticker. It is talking about a real thing in a real place.

When you hear water in Genesis, remember the sentence around it. God put this thing in the story on purpose.
Read Genesis 1:2 again tomorrow and ask what the thing is doing in the sentence, not only what it looks like.
