altar in Exodus 24

This thing shows up in Exodus 24:4: “Moses wrote all Yahweh’s words, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve…” The Bible is not talking about a sticker. It is talking about a real thing in a real place.

What kids can learn

When you hear altar in Exodus, remember the sentence around it. God put this thing in the story on purpose.

Read Exodus 24:4 again tomorrow and ask what the thing is doing in the sentence, not only what it looks like.
