Animals
pelican in Zephaniah 2
PEL-ih-can
This creature shows up in Zephaniah 2:14: “Herds will lie down in the middle of her, all the animals of the nations. Both the pelican and the porcupine will lodge in its capitals.…” The Bible is not talking about a sticker. It is talking about a real creature in a real place.
Zephaniah 2:14
“Herds will lie down in the middle of her, all the animals of the nations. Both the pelican and the porcupine will lodge in its capitals. Their calls will echo through the windows. Desolation will be in the thresholds, for he has laid bare the cedar beams.”
What kids can learn
When you hear pelican in Zephaniah, remember the sentence around it. God put this creature in the story on purpose.
