Five-minute object lesson
Prop: a folded cloth
Hold a folded cloth. Read Isaiah 2 in about four minutes, stopping at Isaiah 2:5: “House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.” Ask, “What does this prop have to do with Isaiah 2?” Let two children answer, then say the memory verse together.
Story script
Isaiah 2 is a real chapter from the Old Testament. It starts, “This is what Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.” That is not a motto invented for a poster. It is the first sentence a family hears when this page is opened at night.
Keep going a little further. The chapter also says, “For there will be a day of Yahweh of Armies for all that is proud and haughty, and for all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low:” Isaiah 2 opens with these words: “This is what Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.” The line to keep is Isaiah 2:5: “House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.” Carry the word “house” from that verse into the rest of the day.
The line worth learning out loud is Isaiah 2:5: “House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.” If the rest of the chapter feels crowded, hold that one sentence until the room is quiet.
What happens first in Isaiah 2? Then try this: Read “House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.” once more. What does it show you about God? You do not have to finish every verse. You can close the book after the memory verse and still have read the Bible together.
Group game
Walk the room as if you are moving through Isaiah 2. Every time you freeze, a child says one word from Isaiah 2:5. The last child says the whole verse.
Craft
On a US Letter sheet, draw one picture from Isaiah 2 and write Isaiah 2:5 under it. Send it home as tonight’s reminder, not as a decoration contest.

Take-home prayer
Father, thank you for Isaiah 2. Help us remember Isaiah 2:5 when we wake up, and teach us to notice you in an ordinary night. Amen.
