Old Testament · Minor Prophets
Jonah
Written by Jonah. Written for People who would rather run than obey.
Big picture in three sentences
Jonah runs from God's call to preach in Nineveh, a city he dislikes.
A storm, a great fish, and a prayer bring him back to the errand.
When Nineveh turns around, Jonah is angry that God is merciful.
The hero of the book is God's mercy, not Jonah's mood.
Key verse · Jonah 2:9
“But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to Yahweh.””
